
S1 - Examples of differential interferograms

Two independent interferograms formed over the Longitudinal Valley. Each colour fringe represents 11.8 cm of displacement in the Line Of Sight (LOS) direction (with a 38.7 mean incidence angle). The two black arrows show the azimuth (Flight Direction) and range (LOS) directions. (a) Interferogram between January 29th 2007 and August 6th 2009. The perpendicular baseline is estimated at -68 m, and the time difference is 920 days. (b) Interferogram between August 1st 2007 and February 06th 2010. The perpendicular baseline is estimated at 43 m, and the time difference is 920 days. See the ReadmeS1.txt file for further information and comments.

S2 - StaMPS main parameters

All perpendicular baselines are between 1 400 m and -1 100 m, values that are well below the critical baseline value for ALOS data in FBS mode (Fine Beam Single Polarization) which is about 13.1 km

S3 - PSI data (mean velocity map)

All Persistent Scatterers use in this study with seven columns (Longitude, Latitude, Mean Line Of Sight velocity in mm/yr, mean standard deviation, and the three components NEU of the Line Of Sight unit vector). The data are geo-referenced in World Geodetic System 1984 (ASCII tabs file).
 
North, East and Up components:

VN = -sin(Inc)*sin(Az)
VE = -cos(Inc)*sin(Az)
VU = cons(Inc)
Az is the constant look azimuth angle (12.4).
Inc is the estimated local look incidence angle (between 36.3 and 41.2).

S4 - North South profiles near the Taitung plain

Map of mean LOS velocities (in mm/year) for the period between January 2007 and February 2010. Focus between north Luyeh and the south ending of the valley. The big dots with different colors represent the GPS stations and their LOS velocities with the same color scale as PSI results. Black and grey arrows are respectively the horizontal and vertical components of each GPS stations. The two black dashed lines represent profiles 11 and 12.

The four zooms are represented with black dashed frames in Fig. 3. They correspond to same areas as Figs 5 and 6.
